With great regret I want to state that ICICI Bank has been highly inefficient in processing my application form for a home loan of Rs.15 lacs. I had applied for the home loan in Kolkata on the 9th of June, 2004. At the time of my application, I was told that my eligibility amount for the loan was Rs.18Lacs. My request for sanction was much lesser than my eligibility amount. It has been more than 3 weeks now that I am yet to hear from your Kolkata office on the sanction or non sanction.
I had co-operated to the full when submitting whatever documents were required from me. Only on my repeated follow ups / reminders and requests to various authorities dealing in my application Mr.Nilabhra Chatterjee, Branch Sales Manager visited me yesterday to verify my original degree certificates and other documents. After the talk with Mr.Chatterjee I was assured that now it wont take much time and he offered to get back to me by afternoon.
Late evening I received a call from him summoning me to ICICI Bank Kolkata branch to meet his seniors. He asked me to carry my original B.E. degree certificates and other original documents for the verification. I was surprised to receive such a summon. I asked him if it was a problem with my eligibility for the loan to which he replied that my documents are in order and eligibility is not at all a problem. Than why was I asked to visit the offices at such an odd time. ICICI bank’s publicity in both your website and through press of providing door step service and cordiality is all misrepresentation of how the bank performs.
If at all I was not elligible for the loan amount, I should have been told long time back. Why was this delay?? Only due to my long relation with the bank and due to your publicity (by which I was carried away) did I apply for a loan to your bank and refused all other banks who approached me.
I now repent for banking on your assurances and misleading information in the media. ICICI Bank will definitely not go far with these types of inefficiencies. And let me assure you that WITH what will follow this mail.
I have already requested your bank to return all my papers alongwith the processing fee that I submitted. I donot want to further delay my loan application with other banks.
I will also take the trouble of having my papers and loan application examined by your head office at Mumbai so that you can find out the truth. This of course will not be for a loan sanction since I have already decided to apply for a loan elsewhere.
I request you to take up my issue at the highest levels in your organisation’s hierarchy. I also request for a quick response explaining why I had to go through such an unethical business process when I tried to BANK with you.
