ICICI Bank- doesn't justify the brand

ICICI bank might be the largest bank in private sector. Thanks to host of it’s customer centric services and other offerings it enjoys a good position in personal finance as well as corporate banking. But the retail banking sector has really been a big disappointment.


This is on the basis of series of incedents that have occured with me. Inspite of having a zero balance account, the interest has not been credited till now. In savings account, the interest has to be credited every quarter. The net banking facility is good, but then once you change the password, you will not be able to login and the user will be de-activated.


When applied for my new id and password, branch asked me contact phone banking officers where as the phone banking officer asked me to visit the branch. There is absolutely no co-ordination. Finally they accepted my request after one long month.


According to them, if the customer is not available at his place, then the id and password will be sent back to the corporate office and will be destroyed.


This really creates problems and confusion. ICICI bank also has a very bad customer service desk. The online system for the customers seems to faulty. There are customers who get their turns pretty quickly where as others have to wait for a very long time.


Total mismanagement is there in case of withdrawal and deposits. Out of 17 counters in a branch(Secunderabad) only one was there for withdrawing amount where as there were 5 counters for depositing the amount.


The services given by the bank does not justify the hype and the brand of the bank.
