ICICI Bank did help a lot in revolutionising the Indian Banking system a few years back. Conceptually, it was first in the backing sector in India which eased the transaction making through various innovations and service support. But over the years, the service quotient instead of improving has gone from bad to worse.
I myself had two ICICI Bank accounts( 1 at Kolkata, 1 at Odisha) which I had to shut down the last year. There were too many hidden clauses, non-reasonable deductions, and pathetic support from the in-house staff, which made me take this decision.
The personal attention which I first used to get from the bank gradually changed into my calls left unanswered.
I had even referred my sister to open a savings account in ICICI Bank, kalakar street branch. She was made to sign some forms, which she did on good faith. And later, it was discovered that the agent had made her sign some ICICI Prudential forms as well, where in her account was debited with Rs 2 lakhs. On asking for reversal of the transaction, we were asked to go to the Prudential office. The quality of in-house support staff has also kept on deteriorating over the past few years.
This was not at all expected from a bank which was once the pioneer of India’s revolutionised banking system.
