ICICI is the most customer cheating unfriendly bank. I was holding a savings salary account with this bank for last 4 years. According to their own set standards, salary account can have zero balance without any minimum balance charges. Around three years back, to my surprise, they deducted non maintainance of minimum balance charges from my account. Then I had to specifically go to their branch with a letter from my company to get re-credit of the minimum balance charges.
For few months I had zero balance in my account. Just recently when I deposited a cheque in my account and again to my surprise they deducted Rs. 750 for non maintainance of minimum balance plus Rs. 77 as Interest. When I contacted them they refused to re-credit the charges to my account saying that since there was no transaction in my account for six month, my account has become normal savings account.
They did not even inform me that my account is no longer a zero balance account and straight away deducted the minimum balance charged. When I again and again contacted them they just refused to reverse the charges. These people are greedy and will fall down to any lengths for money.
Also, their trading account icicidirect.com is very expensive as compared to other banks like HDFC and Indiabulls. The brokerage charges are highest at 1 %. Whearas HDFC offers it at 0.5%
All in all I feel it is the worst bank to bank with.
