It is nice to see an Indian bank which shows a commitment to quality and customer service. Most Indian banks are stuck somewhere in the past and their services and approach to customers reflect that. In the US I have used ICICI bank to do my banking with my family in India. Their money2India is a great service. I love it. I wire the money at 3 PM east coast time and within 12 hours that money is available in India. Is this bank great or what?
I have noticed though a few things they do not do right. Their system sends out email when my wire goes through. Sometimes I get multiple reminders and I wonder why. Scares me that whoever architected the email system may ave architected the banks IT security system and other transactional applications. Yes, scary thought. And once, a few months back, they sent this note that said if I gaev my checking account number they will be able to inform me of this other service (to wire money directly on the internet) later on. They also wanted other personal information such as date of birth and US Social Security, etc. Sounded like a scammers scam to me especially since they wanted this information through a free text email. I wrote them a note, telling them how unprofessional and stupid that seemed, but never heard back from them.
My family in India has run into some rude people at the banks. I am hoping those are the exceptions and not the rules.
Their good is good. Their bad stinks. They can do better. They are ahead of the pack by using latest tech. They just need to get better at it and understand all the finer nuances of it.
