I have written an review how I was cheated in internet transaction .Someone else had stolen my card details from my diary and made internet transactions unto Rs. 24thousnad thru Citi Bank. At that time I raised the issue before what steps Citi Bank has taken to ensure the safety of the transactions, like user id or password. But they replied in negative.*
Similarly one of my friend also warned me about the risk factor in internet purchases thru our Credit Cards, as all the information we submit on line , may be used by any hacker or colleague or fiend.
Recently I received a brochure from ICICI Bank Credit Card Division, where they promoted hassle-free and safe internet transaction and given details, how it is safe.
They offered Registration for Verified by Visa/Master Card Secure Code. They advised the steps as under:
1.Visit https://icicibank.com/pfuser/cards/creditcard/cc_onlinesecure.html
For getting you may either call their 24 hour customer care number to get the same issued, if you do not have. Or you may also follow the undernoted steps during your internet transaction.
1.Check for the Verified by Visa or the Master Card Secure Logo on the payment page of the website.
2.Verify your personal assurance message, making sure it is genuine
3.Now enter your Internet Banking user id and password.
4.Transaction will then be authenticated by ICICI Bank.
Remaining transactions are the same before entering the user id secure id and password i.e.
Choose item you wish to purchase, *
Proceed with making your payment
Enter your credit card details and click on “Buy”
This will ensure your safe internet purchase and nobody can make false purchase in your credit card.
