I received a call last week from a sales rep (Shwetha) of ICICI Bank asking me if I was interested in a Coral credit card with special offer for Wipro employees (I work for Wipro). I was and so asked her the details. She told me that initially there will be a charge of Rs.1000 for the first year and (the special offer) in the second year if I shop for above Rs.15000/- the annual charges of Rs.500/- would be waived off.
I have a gold credit card and it has a very low credit limit so I agreed. I decided (thankfully) to check this out on the internet. I couldn’t find any such mention there and so I called the lady back and asked her why I didn’t see it on the internet. She said she has the documents which mention a list of companies which have this offer and Wipro is one of them and the internet site may not be updated.
I decided to call ICICI after this. The customer care was formal and courteous and heard me out. They checked their database and no such offer was available. I asked to recheck it for Wipro employees which they did and told me that for no specific company such an offer was presented.
I then called up the sales lady and told her to email me proof of what she was saying. That was the last we talked. Its one week down the lane and I am yet to receive any proof.
