Future + ICICI = Fraudster

Recently I got an SMS saying that I am eligible for a discount of Rs.200/- if I shop for Rs. 800/- at Big Bazaar. Since it’s month beginning, I really planned lot of groceries for home. I went straight to the Old Madras Road Big Bazaar and showed the SMS to Service Desk, they gave me coupon and I asked them if there is any terms and conditions.

They said it is not redeemable for mobile/gold and electronics. None of these were in my shopping list, I even read the same thing printed on the voucher too. So I shopped groceries, fruits and vegetables close to Rs.1900/-.

Then came in the surprise, the billing boy said, instead of Rs.200/- he can offer only Rs.17/- discount, I explained him the printed matter on coupon. He says, it’s system related and he can’t do much. I talked to 3 customer service executives all said some restrictions are there some groceries are not included, you should shop only in II floor not in Ground floor, I was perplexed by their explanation. It looks clearly the ’cheating’ is modus operandi from top to down.

I was shocked that there were dozens of people like me asking questions and puzzled at their answers. Many tearing the coupons and throwing on desk. I have used ICICI card for almost 6 years and I have not faced any untoward incident, but now I am seeing some desperation to make some fast money by conning people. I am regular shopper at Big Bazaar too, after this incident I have decided not enter one in future. The employees also look like fraudsters, they don’t give proper explanation, which means it is a set up game by Future Group brains and the desperate ICICI bank.

Also I observed huge number of billing complaints at the service desk, I think Future Management is teaching ’cheating tactics’ to billing boys. Many items are charged above MRP, some discounts are not updated in the system, wrong price selection by billing counter, and even wrong charging / double charging of debit and credit cards. I don’t know how many walk back home w/o knowing these ’cheating tactics’ of Big Bazaar. How many people really check price and count items before leaving the counter ? I think this is a mistake, one should,

  1. Check if discounts are really given

  2. Check MRP properly, Scotch brite Rs12/- could be charged as Rs.30/-

  3. Check and count no. of items too,

  4. If you are using cards, double check billed amount and entered amount.

  5. Don’t allow billing boy to swipe multiple times.

I hope people will stay away from these two desperate corporates and avoid being conned. And even if they shop, please be aware that there are numerous methods to con you !! I completely blame ICICI for all inconvinences caused. I am thinking of sacking ICICI credit card from my wallet for ever.

Thanks for reading !
