On the outset, I would like to mention that I am a heavy credit-card user and have multiple credit cards with an unblemished credit history. However, ICICI bank which freely distributes cards to every Tom, Dick & Harry does not seem to like me.
My application was rejected last year without any reasons assigned. This year, I was approached for a Gold Card. Though not interested, I thought I would give it a shot. A person came and collected documents on their behalf. Documents included the front & back of my existing card & a charge slip.
When I raised concern about security, since the xerox is liable to misused, they said it would expedite my application. I got an SMS from ICICI stating they had received my application & they would revert back once it was processed. That day never came. Then I called up their customer service.
The lady at the other end did not ask for the reference no. Instead, she did a verification check on me! I am not their customer yet. After about 10 minutes on hold, I was told that the application is ’on-hold’ because they have not received the copy of credit card. I was given two 16-digit reference nos and told to fax the thing again.
I told them, I would do it only if they gave the request in writing. Nothing happens for a week. They say they have already posted a letter, which I have still not received after 3 weeks.
This time, I told them to cancel my request.
Customer Support: Is there anything else, we can do for you?
Myself: No.
Customer Support: Thank you for banking with ICICI. [Hangs up]
Did I get a chance???!!
