I have had most horrible experience with this bank. I am an NRI & applied for a bank account & home loan.
I was told that it would take 3 business days to open an account. In reality it took more than 2 months to open the account.
Customer support persons, CSP, are completely useless. ICICI had given them phones and nothing else. These people try to get answers from the thin air. One CSP does not know what you told other CSP. You have to explain your situation every time you call them.
NRI Home Loan; Drop all your plans about applying a home loan with ICICI. This bank cannot be trusted. I was told that NRI home loan would be processed in under 10 business days. I was too naïve to believe. It took more than 4 months of agonizing experience to realize that it was hopeless. I withdrew my application.
If you think bank’s website is good, you are right. That is all the bank is good at. I was contacted exactly 5 weeks after the application was received by the bank. They asked me to send more documents by either fax or email with scanned images. Their fax number does not work. Their system cannot accept emails that are more than 200kb in size. As per the CSP, their mail room personnel take 4 weeks to open the mail.
It is impossible to get your questions clarified. You can only speak to these CSPs in their call center. They have no clue about your application. They will ask you bunch of non-sense questions & will try to brush you off. If you are persistent, they will give a tracking number and ask you to call back one week later. When you call a week later, most likely they will give you an answer that is not even close your question. You get angry and scream on them. They will give you another tracking number & will promise that some one from the bank will call you in 2 days. You wait 3 days, no call from the bank. You will call the customer service, and explain your story again. This will go on and on.
The people that process your loan are in mortgage department in Mumbai. The call center is in Bangalore. You can call only the call center. It takes 1 week to pass a question from call center to mortgage department. Their personnel at mortgage department are totally incompetent. They do not know how to respond to questions posted by call center.
How long does it take an application with 300 pages of documents? You do the math.
This bank boasts to be ‘Global face of India’. It is not even fit for ‘Global rear-end of India’.

I just couldnt resist myselft adding this new development. It is more than 2 months since I withdrew my home loan application. Today I got a call from a ICICI loan advisor about missing documents on my home loan home application. Pathetic!!! This guy has no clue that I withdrew my application. Without telling about withdrawal, I asked him to check with his mortgage department and to get back to me. :D
