Today I was able to get the motor insurance for my 8 year old bike through ICICI lombard customer care. The entire experience was hassle free, the customer care executive was very helpful and courteous. The best part was I was able to get the insurance for an old bike whose policy had expired few months back over the phone and without having to take the bike for any inspection.
The premium amount is reasonable and the IDV that was provided is satisfactory. Unfortunately, only the comprehensive package is available.The third party package is not provided.
In the past I tried getting the insurance from Bajaj Alliance who refused to provide the insurance because my bike is 8 years old! Next, I approached Reliance who again refused because the bike bike is old and the previous policy was from a different service provider.
It was a different story that Oriental insurance told me - They wanted me to reach the office between 10-4 on weekdays tough the timings on the notice board was 9 to 5(Mon - thu), 9 - 6(Friday).
One can count on ICICI Lombard Motor Insurance for convinence and for old vehicles which other service providers refuse to handle.
