They don't know what do they do

I had bought my 2 wheeler in October 2006, financed by ICICI Bank. Hence by default, the insurance was from ICICI Lombard. When the policy expired in 2007, I renewed it online using credit card.


I thought of inquiring with ICICI Lombard as I have not got the renewed policy document for my 2 wheeler since November 2007. Spoke to a guy last evening who confirmed that the policy is active and promptly emailed me the soft copy of the policy document that was expired in Nov 2007.


He also sent another email addressed to "Mr. Amit Puthenpura" stating the request number. When I called again this morning and spoke to another guy regarding incorrect name in their records and sending the expired policy document, he tried to adopt their usual escapism.  I also softly informed that I am recording this call, he came up with a statement that in one database they have my name as "Partha Sarathi" and in another database, it is "Amit Puthenpura".


He also said that "Mr. Amit Puthenpura" is supposed to be my wife as per their records. I told him that I am a man of straight nature, hence I can not have another "man" as my wife.


I just asked him to rectify all the records and didn’t have the patience to ask why there is redundancy, if they use any centralized database, whether ICICI Lombard uses any ERP at all and if he has heard the word "ERP". Well, I need to do some more research on it and call them again. Now they have Toll Free number that can be called toll free form any number : 1-800-209-8888.
