I had taken out a health insurance policy with ICICI Lombard last year, policy no. 4063i/HAP/W-11422526/00/000. The sum assured is Rs 3 lakhs and the premium paid was Rs 15000. No claim has been made by us in the past year and the policy is to be renewed on 17 October 2013.
I am surprised and shocked to receive a renewal notice for the above policy asking for double the premium, i.e. Rs 30, 000, without any note of explanation or apology. This goes against all insurance practices. Nor was I informed at the time of taking the policy that the premium would be doubled every year.
I made a call to their call center and their agent spent a lot of time with irrelevant information and waffling about getting the details, he made me hold for 15:21 minutes he disconnected my call. It appears that the company is managed by nincompoops. IRDA should check the qualifications of the management of ICICI Lombard, as the company appears to be ill-managed at every level.
The company is not replying to my e-mails. Nor has it taken any action regarding complaint registered on their website (Interaction ID 19092013472). They are perhaps hoping that the policy expires on 17 October 2013 and thereafter they can wash their hands off it. Frankly, I see this as cheating by a company no less than ICICI Lombard.
