I work with TATA MOTORS LTD, PUNE. I took this cashless card on 26 Nov-08. With almost a year over, I didnt suffer anything to use this card until now.
On 8th Dec-09 I felt excessive pain on my right abdomen. I immediately went to Aditya Birla Hospital, Pune at 5pm. I was taken to the emergency ward. Later on 9th Nov I was diagnosed with the cause and the result came with the USG of lower abdomen. It was acute appendicitis, the doctors asked me to get operated within 24 hrs.
Till 4pm the documents and approximate bill of 50, 000 was ready to get through a drill in my pocket. Since Tata Motors only pays a max of 25, 000 in case of a major surgery. In other case it pays only upto a max of 15, 000. I was confused as to apply for this cashless card or through the company policy, since I didnt want to delay my operation. I called up the ICICI insurance and they asked me to fill a ttk form as its a tpa policy and it will take approx 3-4 hrs to process.
I guessed it will take much more time than they are saying. So owing to the emergency situation I paid a cash of 30, 000 rightayway and applied for the ttk insurance. At 8pm I was taken inside the O.T. It was cool though it was my first surgery. The surgery got over at 12:30am since the case was complicated. Anyways next morning I got the info that the ICICI insurance have paid 15.000 and will pay the rest when the next final bill is sent to them. But they wont pay some admin bills and some misc bills which was around 7, 500.
The total bill came out to be 54, 000. On 11th Dec I was discharged with the total bill settled already in the afternoon. The ICICI insurance paid the bill of 47, 000 approx. and the rest was paid by me. I would really like to thank Dr. Gajanan Wagholikar and the ICICI insurance policy for the immediate actions at such an emergency situation.
