I was thinking of going for an Airtel connection. My mother works in LIC, They(idea people) had introduced a new scheme for LIC employees.
Under Idea Cellular, we shall pay INR 900 as advance rental for one year and after 1 yr 150 p.m rent. Caller id charges were also waived off under the scheme (normally they charge INR 50 per month for it) plus we didn’t need to pay any security deposits. We loved the IDEA and went for it.
I have a nokia 6600, so I called up the customer care and requested them to activate GPRS.After activation I found that I could only open their official site ideafresh.com and no other site. So I complained to them about this, in reply they said if I want to open other sites I?ll have to pay Rs 99 P.M. Obviously I was damn upset.
Then after two days they barred incoming and outgoing calls from my number, when I contacted Customer care they said my address hasn?t been verified yet. When I argued that this is not my fault they said they would send somebody to my mother?s office 2 verify the same. No body came for 1 week.
I then went to their ’idea’ showroom with my mother?s identity card, for this they said only when my mother comes personally (in whose name this connection is) they will reactivate the connection.
I tried to convince them by saying I?m her son and she has gone out of station, but this didn?t convince those dumb gentlemen. Again when I called them up they asked me to fax my mother?s id in LIC?s official letterhead paper.
Now how is that possible??How can fax the contents of my mothers id card in LIC LETTER HEAD (I’M NOT WORKING THERE). Only after 15 days when my mother returned I could use my phone again.
After couple of days I got my first bill of INR 196(WITHOUT A SINGLE OUTGOING CALL AND SMS). HOW??? 10.2% service tax on 900 Rs + Rs49 for voicemail box(I didn?t ask them to activate it) + Rs25 for sms package (same) + 20RS for GPRS browsing, with service tax extra on each item.
This means they will charge us at their will, if they are in need of money they will activate various packages and features without even informing u and when u argue abt this they will simply say ?sir on this date u requested for the activation of this service?.
If anybody is planning to go for a idea connection, my advice to you is just drop that silly idea , and think of any other idea like- airtel, hutch. BECAUSE A BAD IDEA CAN CHANGE UR LIFE. As my college friends say to me - ’’Mobile amiron kaa (6600) , connection fakiron kaa (idea)’’.
