I have used Airtel, Vodafone and Videocon in last 10 years and I never had any service quality problem any one of them however, one month ago I ported from Videocon to Idea as I was scared of losing the Videocon number after the ruling by Supreme court for cancellation of Videocon license.
While applying for number porting to Idea, I had requested for an STD plan as my usage is only for STD calls. The executives showed me a plan which was primarily meant for local calls. I rejected that plan but the executives convinced me that it was equally good for STD calls and details given on paper are either mistakes or have been changed.(The plan had shown free minutes for only local calls and preferential rates for local calls at almost half rate of STD rate). The executives had told me that there was no difference between Local and STD free minutes and calling rates under this plan.
The executives in concern were Shubham and Akash and they have reported to a Mumbai Manager, Vinay Iyengar(email: vinay.iyengar@idea.adityabirla.com).
Thereafter I received a welcome call after 10 days of service activation and the caller told me the plan with differential rates. I called at the help desk. The first call was kept on hold for almost 30 minutes and then I had to hung up. I called again after some time to register a complaint. The phone executive attended the call after 25 minutes and gave me a complaint number. The complaint number was 20792008 and was raised on 14/Apr/12. I had provided the contact numbers of all the persons concerned and email of their manager(Vinay Iyengar). The executive promised a resolution within next 48 hours but I never received any communication from Idea.
Thereafter several messages, I never received any communication until 5/May/12. On 5/May/12, I received the first call from Idea and person suggested me to cancel the connection as they will not take any action on my complaint. It was after knowing of their fact that I may not request for cancellation because I have requested for porting of connections.
Moreover, about the service quality of Idea, it is among the worst I have used so far. They have frequent call drops and no connections.
I recommend everyone not to fall in trap of Idea’s false promises and use it’s one of the worst services. I suggest everyone to stay away from Idea.
