Experience with IFB30SCI

Hi,

I recently brought 2 microwaves- the IFB 30SCI and the IFB25SCI.  The second one was a gift for my brother-in-law who recently married. My first experience of a microwave was in 1990, when my father bought a BPL microwave(I wonder if they still make it). After that it was a wondeful journey with our family kitchen producing ckaes, grilled things and a zillion dishes. We used it for cooking- and not heating cold food from the fridge. I have have an enormous respect for the microwave and it was pity that I did not jump up and buy a microwave any sooner when I married and shifted to another city. I did a lot of research and zeroed on the IFB 30SCI.

I thought I will get a good deal if I bought at the same go- but in the end(probably due to my negotiation powers), we settled for the same cost had we bought them even separately. I was told by the shop that an authorised person from IFB will come and install the microwave, so we kept mum- and it took them 4 days to send a person, who just came and plugged it in. The next shock was the packing did not have any instruction manual, gurantee card etc.  We called up IFB Customer care, to be told that these days they do not pack the manual and gurantee card and it should be given by the person who has installed the machine.  This person vehemently denied any such knowledge and in co-ordination with the call centre agreed to come back and give us the necessary documents. In the menwhile, we found that the 25SCI had all the ncessary documents intact.

Anyway these issues are trivialities- the main problem now is that this microwave stops on all high temerature operations where we want to do a grilling and convection operations together. Their service people has seen the machine a couple of times and in the end we get some real peach of answers- Sir- no one use the microwave for so long- 30 minutes operations etc are not really done- our customers mostly use it to warm food’.  So the solution being offered is when the machine stops, allow it to cool for 3-5 minutes and start again. Huh!- it works but if you have ever used a microwave for baking a cake or grilled a fish, you would know that this is definitely not a happening thing. The funny part of it is- if you call IFB- they are so apologetic etc etc andpromises immediate action but so it is only loads of promises.
