IGNOU

HI, I have done my MCA from IGNOU, two years back. I loved the course and was able to enjoy the freedom it provided me with while I did my job, the ample choice of centers nationwide.

I recieved from a letter ( Quoted below) from Tata Consultancy Services in return to my application to the company (sent along with my resume) and had attended the same on 17th Nov, 2003, where nothing is mentioned about the course (regular/contact) eligibility.

Amongst the few who cleared the written exam, I had been one. But I was debarred from attending the Technical Interview and the explaination(Verbal) given was that I had done my MCA course form IGNOU and company policy does not recognise such courses even after my telling them that IGNOU is a recognized university at par with the others. My TCS Ref. No. is : AP2003CN145551.

That too after I cleared the written exam and waited till 4:00 p.m. for the next round.

Definately the very view of Mrs. Indira Gandhi & the motto of IGNOU of that ’’ Education is a liberation force, and in our age it is also a democratizing force, cutting across the barriers of caste and class, smoothing out inequalities imposed by birth and other circumstances’’ has been violated & the university degree has not been recognized as per the UGC Circular No.F.1-8/92(CPP) dated February 1992.

I am glad that by clearing the written examination, I have proved that a student of IGNOU is in no way lesser in caliber than any of the regular students, who r given the preference by one of the great companies in India.

But what hurts me and amazes me is that ONLY INDIAN companies have such Ridiculous ideas. And also, IF INDIAN COMPANIES HOLDS SUCH A STAND AGAINST AN INDIAN UNIVERSITY IN THE NAME OF THE COMPANY POLICIES , WHY SHOUD WE CONTINUE WITH SUCH A UNIVERSITY, WHOSE STUDENTS ARE DEBARRED FROM JOBS IN INDIA ITSELF BASED ON THE VERY FACT THAT ITS OPEN UNIVERSITY???
