IGNOU has a brand name that identifies it among other open universities and distance education programs. The number of programs on offer is quite exhaustive. This might be the only green side of the pasture that tempts one to pursue a course from IGNOU.
Once in, the amount of guidance that is received and the response from the administration is very poor. To put my experience here, I completed my MCA in 2004 and today while writing this review it is June 2006 and I’m still not in receipt of the degree certificate. Any phone calls always gets a reply "Kal phone kijiye" or even better" next month phone kijiye"
This is not the first time of such incident with the university. The results for semester exams used to come 7 months after writing the exam, this too after continuous follow-up over phone. Any phone call is generally picked and put off-hook immediately and in rare occasion does one pick the phone. Any letters ends in the trash bag (based on my experience of not getting a single response for more than dozen mails shooted to various departments).
If any one is serious about education avoid IGNOU by all means. Moreover the course contents are not industry relevant.
