I was there during 1993-97. Those four years in the serene green campus will always remain the best part of my life. It is a place where idealism is put into practice. The quality of academics is of course of the top rank. But living with students from all over the country, interacting with the professors and their ideas, the inter-hostel competitions, the cultural festival are not just training for life, but living life at its best. I did my B.Tech in the electrical engineering department, easily the toughest.
The cultural festival (then Mardi Gras, now called Saarang) is a major relief in the otherwise hectic schedules of the students. The official footwear in the campus is hawai chappal. One of the fondest memories that I have is that of the Open Air Theatre, where movies are screened every weekend and is a wonderful fun time for the students.
The quality of food in the hostel mess used to be one of the complaints, but now I realize it is a part of the training :).
