I am doing my M.Tech 1st year in IITM. The PG admissions are through GATE. I joined here in 2003. Ive fifnished my 1st sem and im into my 2nd sem. Thats about me. Now coming to my college, IITM, well what can I say except that it is wonderful. It is really the place to be.
Here we have everything. U name it and we have got it. I’m doing my PG in computer science so I can describe the features here in my lab. We have a solaris network in our sun lab. Well solaris, I heard a lot about it before I came here but I came to know its greatness after I came here. Unlike windows it is very stable and provides a very good GUI. We have a VLSI lab with about 20 licenses of MAGMA, Synopsis ...etc which are the leading tools in VLSI and I doubt about other institutions having atleast 10.
We have various other labs almost one for each feld of research going on here. The profs here are simple excellent. They take a lot of care abt every individual and do a great job in motivating them.
Coming ot the hostels, Well I can say they are good if not excellent. We have comfortable rooms with 2 in a room for 1st sem and a single room in th 2nd year. The mess is good with good nutrition values and clean also. But if u know about chennai u can appreciate the facilities regarding water and power in IITM. We have sufficient water and no power problems coonsidering the lack ofwater in chennai.
Well I want to conclude with one last topic, The festivals in IITM. There are 2 to speak of majorly, One is a technical festival and other is a cultural festival called SAARANG. I want to tell u about the last saarang held, it was amazing with real fun. We had Udit narayan with his troop and String from pakistan performing with Euphoria in a unity concert. It was simply amazing.
Well I can say this much but I will say IITM is the best in all.
