I am not sure how can I even consider myself brave/creative enough to analyse the great works of Richard Bach, who never stops to amaze me with his simplistic writings and easy narration of his philosophical ideas.
Let me start by saying that illusions is a great book, meant to be read in any given mood, at any given time, for whatsoever motive... You just cant escape its subtle humor and the message embedded deep inside it.
So... what is it about?
Is it a fiction... yes
Is it gripping enough... Oh yes
Is there a murder involved... Yes
Does the reader gets bored midway... No way
Does the hero is a superhuman like Indi Movies... Yes, Very Much!
Is it a fantasy... Yes
Is there magic involved... Yes
Is the story predictable like a hindi movie... Yes
So far so good... it sounds like a normal book... even Sydney Sheldon novels have the same things. Then What makes it so different? The difference my friend is the narration of the story and its not just another rags-to-riches story... That’s where it differs...
Although it is written as a novel, it is deeply meaningful, and the reader definitely is on a road of personal growth through reading it. The story is philosophy of life as perceived by Richard Bach. It is a story that tells that if you believe in something then everything is possible... you could even be a Messiah/God for that matter. There are no complicated plots... reader just gets hooked with the flow... the story takes shape at a leisure pace... but never gets boring at the same time.
There are so many words of wisdom in this book. Every other page is filled with simple, subtle, yet extremely profound truths. You can read the book as a novel, and you can read this book as a guide to life. Both ways are equally good. Having a good novel and an inspirational book rolled into one, it is a fantastic combination.
You just cannot miss the ease with which the author narrates the most unbelievable things in life and you want to believe them all. At one instance, our hero (a normal human) swims in the LAND... seems ridiculous? Nevertheless, when you read it - you believe it.
If you do not believe me... go and get this book; you would also start believing that everything’s possible.
