Arent we uncomfortable with uncertainty?
How many of us believe our thinking is fatalistic?
How many of us push the envelope whenever we are given a seemingly difficult task?
No, I dont claim to be the next Shiv Khera nor do I wish to give you a motivational talk. And no this book is not the usual You can win or Tough times dont ..... kind of book. Nowhere in the book do you have quotes or rules to succeed. It just makes one realize a lot of things about the way people go about their lives. I have read most of Richard Bachs books and liked this one the most.
I am sure most of us would want to come up with ideal answers for each of the above mentioned questions; answers which you are expected of. This is the story of Richard Bach (usually his books have himself as the character) and his interactions with a man who later proves to influence his thinking and his actions in a big way. Bach is nor referred to as the new age philosopher, I do feel he has the ability to make you think while reading.
This messiah whom the author meets, is a slightly unconventional one. He is as fond of flying as Bach and their adventures are easily identifiable as they tend to make one think about how they correspond to your life, events in your life. Its not completely philosophical but tends to make oneself slightly uncomfortable and thats the best thing about the book. Its just impossible for you to stay detached and keep reading. And the more you think about whatever Shimoda says, the more interested you get. Donald Shimoda, the messiah that is, is equipped with powers to control his actions and his mind, excel at whatever he wants to and influence Bach to go beyond what a rational mind would tell him to do.
The conversations between Bach and Shimoda are thoroughly engaging. Most of them hover around flying but the author has managed not to get into technical details and focus on the approach required towards just about everything that goes on in their lives.
I would not want to reveal the end because its very touching and very thought provoking. As it is I have revealed enough by now I guess!!
You just cannot afford not to read this one is all I want to say.
