This was the first Blind Guardian album I bought. Well, thats not completely true since I bought three albums at the same time. But IFTOS was one of them as well. It was impossible to do a better album than Somewhere Far Beyond... and Blind Guardian did it anyway! Imaginations from the Other Side is widely, if not totally, acclaimed as a unique masterpiece and theres no way to find the right words to describe the beauty of this album to someone who still havent listened it.
Every single moment of this album is a magical experience and it´s quite hard to skip even one song. It consists of a good mix of lyrical themes compared with great songwriting which makes it THE BEST stuff out there.
I´m Alive and Born In A Mourning Hall are, in my opinion extremely underrated as they come under the shadows of other great pieces. I guess you can consider this as the best BG album to introduce people into their works unless of course youre a fantasy buff in which cass Nightfall in Middle Earth will be recommended.
Till today, Imaginations From The Other Side is Blind-Guardians all time best and their peak song, although later works will sell more.
The most heavy and angriest album in Blind Guardians catalog, Imaginations (the way it is called for short) is composed by nothing but masterpieces. 9 songs, 9 standout tracks that to this very day have found a place in the hearts of all the fans of the band. Each and every song deserve to be praised. This is a release that no metal music fan must miss since its one of the finest metal albums ever recorded.
The Songs -
Imaginations From The Other Side - This is a truly OUTSTANDING song, and my favourite metal song ever. It begins with a truly decent guitar arrangement and Hansi sings at his very best. I also like the chorus part in which the vocals are tremendous. It consists of some of the best lyrics I have ever seen, very deep and thought provoking.
Im Alive - This is another good song. This songs starts out quite typical of the heavy metal characteristic of BG, and the intro has a balladical feel to it, which is followed by powerful and strong riffs.
A Past and Future Secret - Its an all out ballad song. This number has a somewhat enchanting feel to it. Nothing particularly superb compared to other songs, but worth listening anyway.
The Script for my Requiem - In my very honest opinion, Hansi shines at his best in this song. He has an amazing voice and it is stretched to its maximum stretch point in this song. Another masterpiece.
Mordreds Song - The Bards (Blind Guardian) are quite good in this song. Mordreds Song somehow reminds me of Im Alive, but I prefer the Acoustic Version, which is quite rare in me.
Born in a Morning Hall - Unarguably the heaviest song of the album. Excellent guitarplay. But the star? Thomen, undoubtedly, though Hansi also shines.
Bright Eyes - Another BG favourites of mine. A truly superbly amazing intro after some good guitarplay Fool just another, fool just another... followed by a yet another amazing masterpiece by BG. I love the chorus part and the verses of the songs will always remain with you. Its that sort of song.
Another Holy War - Another OUTSTANDING heavy song in which everyone performs well.
And the story Ends - My least favourite song of the album but the name suits its place, in my opinion.
Unfortunately, this album isnt available anywhere in New Delhi. :(((((( But I got it from the net. If you are really into metal, or I convinced you that this is good, you can download a few songs and if you like it trouble your local music store wallah (storekeeper) to get it. I have written at least a hundred times in Ebony and requested in Rhythm orner (South Ex) and they still havent got it.
