Mr. Nandan Nilekani has written a well detailed book on the history of Modern India and our journey so far. The excellent references in the book prove that the subject has been well researched and presented in a structured manner. The book brings into persepective the various events since independence and especially since 1991 on the developments that have brought us so far in the journey of India. It is very interesting to look back in the mirror and see the events that have passed and see the "road map" that brought us here, especially our British history.
What needs further thought, discussion, elaboration, brainstorming, and writings dedicated to it is our journey from here and some clues to the "markers" along the way we should look out for. Also, what is required is further delving into how can the common man, the poor man, be a more integral part of the journey from here and how do we leverage the outcomes to ensure the common man benefits the most.
Overall, the book gives an excellent value for money and leaves you asking for more in a Part 2 of the book.
