A great place to study

Being an alumini of the International Management Institute will most probably make a difference to the objectivity of this review. Besides that as IMI is the only B-School ive been in I really cant make fair comparisons. The comparisons I will at times draw come from interactions with students of various other B-schools and visits as part of competetions and festivals.

The core of any B-school, often more important then just the infrastructure, are the people within. These people comprise of the faculty and the students. The faculty at IMI is indeed top draw. With 18 inhouse faculty IMI leads many institutes who carry themselves on the shoulders of visiting faculty. The biggest advantage of inhouse faculty from the students point of view is their being available as and when you need them. Most of these faculties have spent long years teaching at premier institues in india including the IIMs as well as many top institutes in the world. The experience gained through their corporate interactions too helps them impart practical and up-to-date knowledge to the students.

The students at IMI are admitted through the Common Aptitude Test (CAT) which has been rated as amongst the toughest competetive exams to get through. Whilst the argument might go that IMI would probably be picking off the lower end of scores alone, the truth is that during the time I was there most of the students in my batch had interview calls from the IIMs (they call only the highest brackets of scores from CAT).

The infrastructure whilst being adequate could be developed further which I am told is on the agenda to be done during the next six months.

The best thing about IMI is the atmosphere around the campus. There is no stuffiness and people are friendly. the interactions between the students and the faculty whilst serious and professional in class is much more light hearted and friendly outside.

Overall I believe IMI to be a great place to study and develop oneself for two years. I personally cherished every moment of my two years.
