Let me first disclose that I am a Die Hard fan of Simbudevan from the days where his cartoon comedies that used to appear in Ananda vikatan. I was thirsty as I never found them in these days Ananda vikatan.
If I need to write review in a single line I would say Those who love Simbu’s comedy scripts this movie is a perfect treat. As ananda vikatan has lots of publications which is the compilation of the various articles, This time shankar has been succesful in doing the same where its a compilation of the hilarious skills of Simbu.
The movie is very good excerpt the songs which had many instances which were the remake of the 50’s and 60’s songs and at some places I see vadivel mimic his partonage to MGR by imitating him while he does his sword fights and though simbu says he was given a free hand to screen his creativity I see at places where Shankar being the producer has intervened. Beyond all these there has been the best efforts of the director in exploiting the skills of every aritist including himself.
I used to love his jokes appearing in Ananda vikatan because it has a base line upon a social issue. here too he has handled them to the best by confiscating casteism, fraud, nexus of politicians with hardcore criminals, capitalism, cricket stars/personalities/Advt. film makers/Actors and even cooldrinks (like Kapsi).
Vadivel has performed to the best in the hands of the pupeter Simbu as "nagariga komali".
Nasser and Manorama have got best chances to exploit and implement their skills of Drama acting though both had few chances to expose them.
Vadivel has to be praised for changing into the charecter where he has ben succesful in putting down weight, learnt horse riding and sword fighting. His perfomance in the dual roles is also splendid.
Let me suggest the other movie makers to get inspired from these movies and drive away from the recent blood red shed theatres heroes with sickles, guns and noices like "ayie", "potudu", "Thukidu", "Vettidu".
"Imsai Arasan Irupathi Moonam Pulikesi" is todays Kollywood’s "comedy arasan onnam Simbukesi"
