Cameron diaz!!!! mama mia!

Ok, the ONLY reason that I went to watch this chic flick ( which it undoubtedly is) was because of my friend’s absolute and undiluted love for Cameron Diaz…leading to me being dragged along for the ride! Justification enough??? Cast: Cameron Diaz (Maggie), Toni Collette (Rose) and Shirley Maclaine (Ella) The Plot: Two sisters, one is well, Cameron and the other is a lawyer who is a die-hard workaholic and when she isn’t working, she is usually taking care off little sister. They lost their mother early and thus have a very strong bond with each other The story: Cameron Diaz is like Paris Hilton except that she isn’t rich and mooches off her sister! Beautiful (and in this movie she is like OH MY GOD! beautiful guys) with few morals, no job and an active sex life! While Toni Collette is the older, responsible sister with an ordinary exterior but who’s life is just as lonely as her little sister. So after another round of drunkenness and sex, Maggie is taken in by elder sister after being kicked out by her step mom from her house (for some reason the father doesn’t interfere here). So now, we have Rose who is in the middle of a budding romance with a colleague, and wham comes Maggie to ruin things. After a big fight where Rose asks Maggie to leave the house before she gets back from work…Maggie jumps into bed with Rose’s lover only to be caught doing the dirty deed by a weary Rose returning from work… This of course results in immediate eviction and Maggie ends up somewhere in Miami knocking on the front door of her grandmother who she has never met in her life. This trip turns things around for Maggie who finally finds out that there is more to life than booze and sex. She gets a job (within the community where her grandma lives, which is basically for the aged), stops drinking and learns to be a “GROWN UP”. On the other side, Rose quits her job realizing she just isn’t happy with it and inadvertently ends up in a romance with another formerly colleague and this time things work out. The only problem is now nobody knows where Maggie is! Anyway, the story pans out in typical chic flick style, sisters make up, grandmother introduced into their life and Rose gets married! Woo hoo! Everybody’s happy! My take on the movie: Cameron Diaz is super hot!! Sure age is beginning to show…but OH SO HOT!!! The story is that of a chic flick so nothing great, though it is well paced and you don’t find yourself willing it move on…does that itself. Toni Collette and Shirley Maclaine give great performances, especially Shirley Maclaine who really suited her role. The rest of the cast plays their part suitably…but a special mention to all the oldies playing members of the senior’s community, they were brilliant and added a unique flavour to the movie. The movie doesn’t have any special effects and stuff, though they might have used something to make Cameron Diaz’s legs look better coz…..!!!!! Otherwise, the humour and dialogue in the movie is pretty good…especially for a chic flick and I found myself pleasantly surprised with the movie as a whole.. Guys watch it for Cameron, and ladies watch it, it’s worth a watch ...Drama WITH humour!!
