10 mins into the movie and the person who was projecting the movie on the big screen stopped the reel. And we came to know that he was projecting a wrong movie ( I guess it was Tarzan) . Well then he restarted and instead of Congo jungle background we flew directly into space. TA.DA. and INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE started.
The movie is made as a sequel to a 20 year old movie INDEPENDENCE DAY ( which was also directed by same director Roland Emmerich) and which starred Will Smith. That movie show human race win over the highly advanced aliens. But now after 20 years what had changed. As per film’s tagline, yep we have adcanced in our technologies but didn’t they ( the aliens ofcourse, and don’t confused with the alien term Americans used for anyone who’s not american) , they also got 20 years. We now have a space station on Moon which got attacked by an unknown object and then soon enough a huge mothership came and occupy the huge sky of our earth and it started suc* ing out huge monuments and building material of our earth, becausr it has a gravity of his own. Will our new heroes ( the sons and daughters of old movie characters) be able to save the earth from this highly advances aloen species?
Well, the plot is similar, just 1 twist is there but still its not like a machine-gun twist, its normal. This movie does not have Will Smith and no big names, and that actually affects the movie’s reputation. Story is similar, direction is same kind of like such kind of movies have, and then you dont have star-power, the movie looks same old story but with better special effects. All the actors acted like they were supposed to. Some scenes are nicely made like the one at the end when the queen bee of aliens running behind the fake signal.
So movie is not a miracle kind of stuff which I will ask you to go watch it, but just for vfx or if you’re Independence Day fan, you can have a look at it. It’s a good watch but not that unbelievable. I rate 3/5.
