As my Exam is postponed to most probably 15th (I knew that nothing will happen at the right time), let me get this one here which I have given for a number of essay competitions already. The topics are usually - Is India going in the right direction or something like that, even some days earlier there was a competition with the similiar topic.
India had been a wonder of the early ages, one of the oldest and the most established civilizations of the early periods. Most of the early civilizations of the country were highly developed when all around the world, there were no signs of improvement.
Our secular country (even with some inner problems like what happened in Gujarat) have great climatic conditions and beautiful sceneries all around, we have good man power and a number of great men and scientists took birth in India, but we still lack development. This is what makes most of the people wonder - but this is a true factor which many people fail to notice.
The politics and corruption is ruining the country with the different social evils going on in our country. We are wasting the freedom that was earned by some great men who struggled with their lives on the balance.
Where did the social values that the great leaders left long ago disappear with no trace? Is there anything they preached, left in the mind of an Indian? Where does Indias future lie?
After the early 1990s, there were a number of these words used - Liberalisation, globalisation etc. But after all these years, the progress actually achieved is quite low. Why?
If we have a look at the South East Asian countries like Japan, China, Singapore, Malasiya, Korea and Taiwan, we see that these countries grew by allowing foreign investment.
Kuala Lampur, Seoul and Tokyo have now become large and famous cities getting lots of foreign money and is improving the internal conditions thus boosting tourism and technology.
In India of course some money came in, there had been a lot of growth in computers and software and the number of electonic appliances were high with a very low price.
Even automobiles and mobile phones are available at lower price - we can see that most people do have vehicles and mobiles for themselves. But not everything were right at that time. The problems were even stronger with a large number of people in the backward areas.
Indians got lot of problems in front of them. We have a hundred million plus literate labour force, and we need jobs for them. We see most of them going to other countries for jobs.
So we need foreign manufacturers to start their production right here so that the work force can be utilized effectively. They should be encouraged upto an extent, but this needs electricity and other features which are not the best in our country.
In the land of power cuts and strikes, will any one dare to establish an industry? May be most of the people fear too much that the foreign companies may exploit us.
It may be due to the fact that some may still got the East India Company phobia, colonialism and imperialism which were gone long ago, haunting them in the inner depths of their mind.
The living conditions in our country is extremely poor as many of the people live below poverty line. They are not only economically backward, but also socially backward. They are also the vicims of abuse and superstitions which prevent their progress.
Even if Sathi and child marriage are prohibited now, who can say that they are not still going on? Is there any proof for that? It is quite hard to believe the conditions in some of the rural areas in North India. Even the literacy rate is extremely low in some areas, even if it is nearly hundred in some states.
Wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few people and the middle class and the lower class forms a high majority compared to the rich ones, but their interests are not the ones supported.
There is not even a house without television these days - but some of these people are not even having enough food to eat - sounds disgusting. Child labour and abortion are other two problems Indians had been facing for a long time, but they have been somewhat controlled these days.
Crime is increasing in our country most probably due to unemployment and the Kashmir Problem is not yet solved. The war on terrorism on the frontiers is draining Indias wealth upto a very high extent.
The Indo-Pak tension is still running high and it is one thing which seems to have no remedy. Even after all these, if India is to go on the right direction, they have to do something special.
Even after a decade being passed after globalistation, the Indians havent reached anywhere near the area where they wanted to reach. We can take the examples of some African countries which have developed from the ruins. Enter the middle east. We can see the best example in another country - Japan.
Even after the Atomic bomb attack in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan was able to lift themselves up. There are lots of natural calamities taking place there, but they still dont give up.
Earth quakes and tornados are not much frequent in the Indian peninsula unlike the other countries. The progress of these countries is just the result of hard work and determination which most of the Indians lack.
It is hard to say any remedy for Indias problems, but lets hope that somehow, India manages to solve its problems and move in the right direction. It is all about the amount of effort we put into it - a collective effort is what the nation needs.
LETS WORK HARD FOR THE PROSPERITY OF OUR COUNTRY.....
& DONT FORGET TO COMMENT.....I HOPE TO BE HERE AGAIN BEFORE THE EXAMS BEGIN.....
