India is an ancient country, a living example of stupendous, paradox, extremes & their synthesis. Unity in diversity sun through the entire fabric of the Indian society. People are left breathless & gaping at its sheer beauty, vastness, complexity & variety. India the largest democracy in the world, is the country inhabited by one sixth (maybe more) of mankind population. It is very fascinating & fantastic with all its variety of religious faiths, faces & languages. Not withstanding all these apparent & endless diversities, India has had always been one integrated whole as a nation from Kashmir to KanyaKumari. And the grim responsibility of safeguarding our nations pride & honor lies on the shoulders of our Defence Forces. The Indian defence forces, with its 3 main wings, the Army, the Navy & the Air Force, is one of the finest in the world. Of the 3 wings mentioned above, the Indian Army has played the most crucial part in fortification our country’s self-esteem.
The soldiers (Jawans) of our Army has served the nation selflessly for more than 50 years of it’s existence. The Indian soldiers has chosen the life of a fighter & protector. This choice speaks for their physical, mental & moral strength. The Indian Army & its personnel’s have to be ever alert in preserving our country’s national identity as a democratic & secular society. There are certain hostile forces across the Line Of Control (LOC) who do not want to see India as a strong, powerful, united & prosperous country. This makes the job of our Army personnel’s even more precarious in certain times. Remember what happened when China attacked India in 1962 without any provocation & warning; the Indian Army were caught unaware & unprepared. Consequently, India was defeated & large part of Indian territory was occupied by our “Chini Brothers”. Since then our Army soldiers have become more alert & ever ready to make sacrifices for their motherland.
The indisputable qualities of our Army Jawans were witnessed with admiration by the entire civilized population during the Indo-Pak conflicts of 1965, 1971 & the most recent Kargil war. Martyr’s have written glorious chapters of bravery & patriotism during these Indo-Pak conflicts. Remember Abdul Hamid who smashed up few enemy tanks single handedly with only a recoilless gun at his disposal & what about Trevor & Denzil Keeler who shot down a Pak Air-Jet during the 1971 war & Captain Mahendranath Mulla, who was acting as the commanding officer of INS Kukri; These brave martyr’s needs no introduction in the history books of bravery. These are the people who have brought glory to our motherland time & again.
During the last few decades our Indian Army has to face new enemy in the form of Terrorism. Terrorism in recent years have acquired new dimension & there seems to be no end to it (Thanks to our ever helpful neighbors). Everyday we loose hundreds of Indian soldiers because of terrorist activities carried out by militant groups like Lashker-e Toiba, Harkatual Jamat & many such hideous groups. But the spirits with which our Jawans serve this motherland will, one day force these militant groups to close their operation in our Indian soil.
Even during the peace time we see our Jawans helping people who are in distress & despair. They are ever-present source of comfort & security during the times when natural calamities such as flood, earthquakes & famine occur. They try to make this place a better domicile to live in & they perform the hardest work with minimum of ease. Sometimes our Jawans has to face the hottest climate (Like 45 to 50 degree) & sometimes they have to face the coldest climate. At some places the temperature goes down below 0 degree but our mighty Jawans faces the situation with great heart. Our soldiers have also helped in international peace keeping operations.
A Jawans salary is not very attractive & even the compensation paid by the government to their family members is not enough for their proper survival but his love for his motherland & nation urges him to join the Army. We should be grateful to our Army personnel’s for whatever they have done for this country.
Should the Indian Army have Nuclear Weapons at its disposal?
Oh yes!! India should indisputably go Nuclear (I know many of my friends in MouthShut will blast me with their explanation about the harmful effect of Nuclear Weapons & let me tell you guys that I very well know how harmful Nuclear Radiation can be on a human being)…Our immediate neighbor Pakistan has been trying it’s level best to create trouble & disturbance in our country & is always ready to avenge the defeat & humiliation suffered during the brief war of1965, 1971 & Kargil war at the hands of Indian forces. Pakistan as we all know has also developed Nuclear stricking capability during the years & possess Nuclear bombs for use against India. China already had these bombs & Nuclear arsenal which can be used against our nation at any time. As things stand today, there are strong chances that our neighbour’s might blackmail us with its Nuclear Weapons & our Indian Army just can not ignore this harsh reality. We should possess Nuclear Weapons so that we can counter-attack our enemies in case needed…
Remember what Dwight D. Eisenhower said “We are going to have peace even if we have to fight for it”….
