I don’t know whether to pity these fellows, or get angry with them, or just stop watching cricket and pretend our team does not exist!!
First our team lacked bowlers, then we lacked all-rounders, and then we lacked a good coach, and then the management itself needed to be changed. And even after that...things go the same way...! So, what else can we change now?? The captain, some say!! Perhaps change the country they play for?!?!
Jokes aside! I read a very good article by Khalid Ansari (of Khalidoscope fame) on Mid-Day (forgive me if the spelling of the name or the column is wrong!). He said that what our team required was a Team Psychologist who would motivate our players. I think he is right. What our players, and indeed a lot of us Indians lack is CONFIDENCE, and a conviction about self!! We have such a strong team in place...or rather 11 or even more great individual players that are better than most cricketers around the world!! And yet...game after game it is the same thing!!
I am one among those who swears I will not watch another game, and am among the first to keep a tab on when the next game is!!
My dear Indian Team, I wish you would wake up,
Rise from the dust and ashes that you have settled in,
And fly high, as high as you were born to fly...
Like the geese fly together, and fly far...
