Another final, another defeat. 20 finals and only 5 wins.
Yyawn this is just getting tiresome.
What the hell is wrong with our Indian cricket heroes?
I have some questions out here, if people can answer them, it would be fine.
When are we Going to stop promoting Ajit Agarkar as the next Kapil Dev. Hell that guy gets out most of the time first ball, gives away runs as if they were Christmas gifts and once in the blue moon comes up with a good performance. But people like Kapil Dev dont give once in a blue moon performance. They perform consistently in match after match.
Will Harbhajan Singh spare us his trashy columns and actually do some bowling? Forget about the doosra, he seems have to forgotten the basics of spin bowling. Bhajji bhaiya, pls observe the way Murali, Shane Warne and Anil Kumble deliver in match after match. That is what is called as champion bowling.
If Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra keep missing every 10th match because of injury problems, why are they still being persisted with? These guys breakdown after a couple of matches, and then come to bowl, and get hit all around. Suddenly they remember that they are playing and come up with a good performance.
How long can Yuvraj Singh and Md Kaif lay their claim to a place in the team on the basis of fielding and ocassionally scoring runs? Yuvi boy, pls cut down your ads and play, PLAY, for heavens sake.
When will Sehwag understand that batting is not just hammering the ball all over, but also involves footwork and innings building?
Isnt it high time VVS Laxman took notice of the fact that Australia is not the only team playing Test cricket, there are 9 more teams also?
And isnt it high time Laxman realizes that he cant live forever in Eden 2001.
Why is Anil Kumble our only consistent bowler, and one who delivers consistently in match after match, treated so shabbily, to accomodate some mediocre jocks?
The last time Saurav Ganguly scored a century was against Australia in Brisbane in 2003. Been quite a long time since then. Now that he has scored a century against Zimbabwe, I guess he keeps his place in the Indian team.
Well in a nutshell that is the story of the Indian cricket team guys.
Player X comes scores well in a couple of matches, gets lucrative ad contracts, becomes a media darling, starts to fail and flounder in every match from then, and just when calls raise for his ouster, suddenly scores a century or takes a haul of wickets, and presto, everything is forgiven and he is the hero again.
So that is why Ajit Agarkar plays match after match, inspite of the fact that his achievements can be counted on ones finger.
Yuvraj Singh, another media darling, fails in match after match, and ocassionally comes up with a good score, and presto he is Indias great new hope.
Why is that one of the worlds best batting line ups crumbles against quality pace bowling on good wickets?
How long will we see our batsman make a mess of a good start and come up with a score short of standards?
To rise to the level of Australia, you need to consistently win. If out of the last 20 finals you had won at least 10, and put up a good fight in other 10, none would really mind the defeats, but when you lose every final you have been playing consistently, SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG.
It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out whats wrong.
Shoddy fielding, poor running between wickets, inconsistent performances.
Damn I have been hearing these for the last 10 years, and am fed up of it.
If I were to put up this consistently bad performance every year in my company, by this time I would have been FIRED.
Guys we dont mind your contracts, do all the ad films u want to, do all the movies you want to.BUT FOR HEAVENS SAKE PLAY, THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE BEING PAID TO. And if you find it tough, pls quit and let others take over.
Folks lets be realistic about ourselves.
WE ARE NOT THE WORLD BEATERS. NEITHER ARE WE THE WOODEN SPOONERS.THAT IS THE BITTER TRUTH
We are just somewhere in between. We are just a very AVERAGE team which has been hyped to the skies by an obliging media and except for some people like Sachin, Dravid and Kumble, consistst of performers who ocassionally perform.
That is the truth about this team, and the sooner we stop expecting of them the better.
