I agree with Rathi’s opinion of not reccommending the Indian Cricjet Team.The Indian cricketers are a pampered lot. They stay in 5 star hotels during matches, travel by air, get lacs of ruppes as playing fees & several hundred lacs more from endorsements. What do they give us in return? Consistently pathetic performances, regularly loosing matches which no ther team in the world will loose, perennial under performers, establisehd chokers with no guts & fighting spirit.
Though on paper India boasts of 3 world class batsman in Sachin, Dravid & Ganguly plus the talent of Laxman & Sehwag we have regularly failed to win when chasing a total of 250 plus in one-day cricket.
Tje Indian Cricket team comprises of brilliant individuals who seldom play as a team. We have cricketers who are not playing for the honour of the country but those who are paying for the money & fame it brings. Thats why we have instances of a Laxman scoring a brillinat 287 once & cementing his place in the team for the next 20 games where he seldom performs because he has assured his place in the team.
Major part of the blame should go to the selectors all of whom lack guts & foresight. They are all interested not in improving Indian cricket but improving their chances of re-election & promoting the cause of the players from their respective zones. The sacking of Steve Waugh & reappointment of Ganguly aptly highlight this attitude or rather lack of it.
I certainly see no chances in the forthcoming world cup next year in SOuth AFrica.
