I have decided to write a review on this and not a comment as I think not much of the people go to the extent of reading all comments on a review. I wanted to discuss, so I am writing a review on this review :)
First of all let me tell you Aman that I don’t agree with you and many of those who commented in a positive manner on your review (saying this was fixed), because of the reasons they have mentioned.
You says Pakistan made 294 on a wicket where average was 260. Are you trying to say that in Karachi and Rawalpindi the average was 350 and 330 respectively? And, no team can score more than the average score of a ground on that ground? ( I strongly believe that you are a Pakistani.. please do not abuse that awesome century of your skipper )
You also said that India was 90 for 4 with ?Only Dravid was at the crease with that idiotic batsman Mohammed Kaif?. Well, ?Only Dravid? is more reliable, technically correct and has the temperament to sail out of such situation than the entire Pak Team ( Inzy not included). Mohammed Kaif has what it takes to win a match ( guts, courage and reasonably good technique to complement these too things). They both have proved it time and again and you don?t have to be a rocket scientist to understand that. ( Provided your general knowledge, IQ level and strength to interpret things has to be slightly more than a donkey.)
Now some discussion on the comments that you have invited thru your review. Like, Shreys says they have to keep the interest alive till the last match to make money. Well, let us dissect this a little further..
- PCB has made it?s money by now and it does not make a difference now as to who wins the match.
A. ALL THE TICKETS are sold, (which you can not cancel).
B. All advertisers have paid the money ( which they can take back until and unless the match is CALLED OFF by PCB/BCCI or ICCI).
C. Same for Broadcaster, they can not claim back the money they have already deposited nor their advertisers to them.
D. The only people who can win/loose money now are the bookers and I don?t really think any of the govt. (India/Pakistan) has any kind of taxes on the money made by fixing a match. Or do they?
Finally, do you think that Pakistani bowlers are god and Indians are mug with the bat that they can win a match after loosing 4 wickets for 90? Remember, this is India?s tour to Pakistan and the players plying in this are representing their country and nothing is bigger than the pride they can earn by beating each other on the cricket ground.
Don?t you expect any of your son/grand son/grand grand grand son to play for India? If yes, do you think you will appreciate him to loose match with Pakistan for money? I don?t think any INDIAN would do that.
There is one comment from Nirrej (I guess) which has some substance, it says that the leaders fixed these matches. Yes, this can be a possibility. Oh my god, what are we talking here? Musharraf and Vajpayee fixed the match ???? If this is the reality, I sincerely doubt the efficiency of media than. They can track everything (right from tehlka to judeo) but can not sense such a fishy deal between two arch rivals????
Even if it is, ?. Then don?t worry enjoy the drama and be happy, you can?t do anything about it. One is a Prime Minister of largest democracy of the world and other one is an armymen who has overpowered a democrat leader in his country and successfully enjoying the leadership. Remember, Non Allies Nato recognition given to Pakistan which signifies, he is not all that ?Not wanted? in international community any more.
To sum it all, the matches are not fixed, yes they are being used to make crores of money. If they are fixed, they are only fixed by PM and Prez and if you have decided to watch the match don?t comment on fixing, just enjoy watching the match.
