The Indian Express (IE), has always been in the forefront of investigative journalism. Though I am not a subsriber of this newspaper, but I am a regular reader (through my office library). The paper has a track record of being anti-establishment. Or so it appears, because the paper has fearlessly reported the wrongdoings of each and every government. During the Bofors days, Rajeev Gandhi was very upset by the reporting of the paper. But all credit/ discredit goes to the IE for accepting the challange. Moreover, what really impresses me a lot, is the kind of thinking mind applied in presenting the headlines. The headlines are so much attractive that one can get to know the gravity of the news item immediatley. And thereafter, the inquisite mind cannot move forward without going thru the entire article. Though I subscribe the HT but I read more out of the IE. Even in journalism classes this very newspaper is recommended by the lecturers for their case studies. In my opinion the Indian Express fully exploits the adage It is not news when dog bites a man, News is whenMan bites a dog and quite successfully too.
