I would have preferred had they named this programme as Annu’s Idol as Mr.Annu Malik conducts the entire show. I have watched a few programmes and found this music show runs on Annu’s whims & fancies. Unfortunately a seasoned professional like Mr.Javed Akthar also does not have the guts to say shut up to Annu( barring one occasion) and continues to sing his tune.
But I certainly find all the participants very talented and putting lots of efforts to become the Idol but unfortunately they are more concerned about Annu’s comments rather than the comments of other Judges. During one of the shows, Udit Narayan openly said that only Annu & Javed are judging this show and he has come for having fun & enjoy a meal & go.
We always welcome strong comments that would help the participant to improve his or her performance but Annu thinks that he should have the last word and other judges know nothing. Alisha Chinnai the other judge openly said the fate of the participants depend on Annu’s mood on that particular day.
But honestly, any other Judge in Alisha’s place would have walked out of show for the amount of insults she faced from Annu. But she keeps smiling and continuing to get ridiculed, may be for the money she gets paid from the sponsors.
The best part of the show is the two hosts Hussain & Mini who are doing an outstanding job by keeping the viewers alive by their excellent co-ordination and impromptu comments. I also appreciate Mini as she had the guts to question Annu a couple of times but was run down by the Stubborn Mr.Malik.
If we look at this programme for pure talent & music , yes it is great. But the ego clash thats witnessed in the Box is a reflection of Sony’s inability to find good judges.
Before finding the Idol-3, let Sony first find a good judge who gives opinion based on Merit and thinks there are others who are equally or more kowledgeble than him . We need to to give respect to gain respect.
