1.A boy grabbing a 1.5cr package is a common hearing but actually the truth is far behind.The showed sum is American dollars converted to rupees amounting to a huge total though its a mere 200000USD approx.second of the title sum about 100, 000 is only basic pay and after taxation only about 70000 dollar comes in hand per year which is hardly a sum to survive on in USA.The 100 000 goed in for stock option and accommodation.Also stock options are a one time options subject to service performance.
2.The second myth commonly associated with it is that it has got great faculty not wrong but partially correct. There are some teachers who are really great but most of them take their job for granted.Further the reservations in teaching post leads to a down hill in teaching qualities as most of the faculties entering from quota are not up to the mark.Third IIT kgp lacks industry oriented training which puts its students on a back seat. Also there are a lot of post in teaching still lying vacant in IIT KGP
