LOVE U kgp

Sitting at the comfort of my hostel room, with a PC, full volume music ON I always wonder ’’will I miss my alma mater?’’ The answer to this question is a resounding YES. Ask me why?

I can tell you many reasons close to my heart, but before saying anything I would like to say that words are not enough to describe IIT KGP

I am from the metropolitan Kolkata( where density of population is too high for comfort). When I came to the institute for the first time I saw lots of tree, big parks and long grasses. The mind bell ringed ’’have a come to a jungle’’.

But soon I realized I am at the lap of nature. The whole campus is so silent at times that it feels you are the lone man on this whole planet. But when you try to hear the buzz around all kinds of activities are going on ..There are innumerable numbers of clubs, and such options to choose from (I don’t know most of them). Their names and activities will fill many pages. Still many like me enjoy sleeping in room more than anything else.

Freedom to do what you like (bunk class, sleep at day, non submission of assignments ) is at your own sweet will if you dont cross the ’’lakshman rekha’’. The institute taught me to draw the boundary line between dos and donts.

It took courage and that too lots of them. The institute is basically a fun zone.I can start deciding minor things which I couldn’t have thought of in my home.

Faculty is good , (but lectures are always boring), only IIT offering minor, the key word being ’’flexibilty’’. Professors are very accomadating.

Inter-hall matches, night canteen, LAN, are unique in themselves. Living with such a varied group of students from different part of india and abroad is a teaching experience. ’’Sab chalta hai’’ attitude is quite unique and night outs during exams and submmission is routine. ’’maggus’’, ’’fundus’’, ’’studs’’ and commoners like me can be found everywhere.

Two years down the line, I wont be there, the place will go on and IIT KGP will surely retain its top position INDIA one day. One should not be surprised if I tell him that I go to home once in 2 months because travelling 116 km to reach a place as congested as Kolkata and in stark contrast to kgp is a nightmare to me.

Although there is not much outside IIT campus but the contents inside the campus are enough to put any other engg. institute to shame.

MISS U KGP, love u!
