I am a student of IIT Mandi itself. IIT Mandi is situated at Kamand, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. My tenure of 2 years has completed here so far. I personally find myself lucky to be a part of it. We have got a huge diversity here. Be it the academic, sports, extra co-curricular activities we have got facilities for everything.
Our course curriculum is quite inter-disciplinary. For B.Tech we have four programs currently: CSE, EE, ME and CE. The coursework designed here is such in a way that one can learn anything as per their interest even though the topic may not fall in their branch domain. We have got some of the excellent professors here and they are highly qualified, deeply involved in research programs. We have also M.Tech Programme, MSc, I-PhD and Ph.D. programmes. There is a scientific vibe in the college. The placement stats are pretty good. Almost 80% of the students get placed and other pursue higher studies ie in abroad or in best colleges in India.
The administration of the college is quite good. Currently, we have a developing campus of 500 acres. We have got two campuses namely North and South respectively. Construction is almost complete for both of them. There are times when the administration is not fair to us. But still, we make them cooperate with us by providing the valuable reasons and negotiations. The people in the admin area are quite friendly and helpful. They help us with every problem and makes our living easier.
We have got loads of fun to do here. The best here is hiking and trekking. Being in Himachal we have a lot of tourist destinations nearby. Be it Kangra Valley, Kullu & Manali, Rohtang, Spiti Valley and many others. We often go for the treks and the beauty of these places is very mesmerizing. There are various other clubs in the college such as Music, Dance, Art, Designing, Literary Society, E-Cell and many others. One is free to discuss the ideas and learn anything. We have great enthusiastic sports culture here. We have Volleyball, Basketball, Cricket, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Badminton and many small indoor sports.
So far 8 batches have passed out from the college. We have got a strong alumni network. They are in various fields, Some of them are in tech giants like Facebook, Google, Microsoft and some of them are even in civil services. Many of them have opted for scientific research areas also. We organize Alumni meet at some interval. They also support us.
Overall this place is heaven to study. One can find almost everything here. Probably it’s the best place to nurture yourself.
