This review seeks to not only touch upon the rude and arrogant behaviour of staff members at my former local Indian Overseas Bank branch, but also seeks to elaborate on the difficulties that my family and I have faced, while using our IOB Debit Card, to make extremely important monthly payments.
I believe in keeping meticulous records of all my banking transactions. To this end, I make it a point to update my passbook, at least 5 to 6 times a month. I really dont believe in net banking.
I can safely say that every time I visited my former local IOB branch, the lady at the counter, who was in charge of updating passbook entries, acted as if she was doing each customer a big favour, by updating passbooks! I was also snapped at, one day, when she had the gall to ask me why I was visiting this bank branch, so frequently and that I could easily obtain records of my transactions.
If I availed of the banks net banking facility! Also, one of her male co-workers in the next counter, seized the opportunity and made personal remarks with regard to my appearance, based on my photograph in the passbook! This was truly uncalled for and as a customer, I resented being spoken to, in that fashion! I chose to let this sort of behaviour slide, as my familys hard earned money was stuck at that branch, in the form of investments!
Also, at the end of last year, when my dad wanted to withdraw some money from his account, in order to have funds to undertake some repair work in our home, not only was the poor man made to wait for almost 5 hours, but the branch manager had the gall to tell him that the branch had run out of money, because of some technical problems at the Chennai head office and that this issue would take about a week to solve! Ridiculous! We really did not appreciate this sort of a teasing mentality!
I also like to pay all my bills on time and unfortunately, there have been quite a few instances where I have been greeted by errors such astransaction failed, unable to contact bank branch, while trying to make important payments(such as payments towards my electricity bill, landline bill, etc. via payment gateways such as Bill Desk), using the IOB Debit Card!
To say that I was very happy and relieved when we finally took our business to another bank, will be the understatement of the year!
