NON-STOP
The new ’’non-stop’’ mobile offer from TATA Indicom was the inspiration for me to take this handset. But there was no problem with the phone as I feared, and it is very easy to use and very slim and weighs very less especially after using it after spending time with Nokia 6600. The fact that TATA Indicom offers a two year validity with no recharging, I found it a good offer to go for.
The next mobile in the range was Samsung Neo, but it fails to have the looks of Ace, and this one has also got a coloured background even if it is not a typical colour mobile, which gives you another reason to go for it. As these phones doesn’t have the easily changeable covers, lamination will be a good thing to do.
The phone got a shiny appearance and the stylish keypad designed perfectly, with an amount of ease to use and it also add to the looks of the phone. Well, a little more cash can bring Indicom Star which is an excellent phone, but this one will do, being the first CDMA phone I used.
NOT A BAD CHOICE
The only possible problem that the phone may have is the considerably lower network coverage here in Kerala even if they have promised that it is not too bad. It doesn’t cause a problem to me because I am staying too close to the town and more importantly closer to their office.
But as lots people have said and warned me about the range, it can cause a problem while travelling because not much months have passed since TATA Indicom was introduced here and it certainly won’t get any close to the coverage of BSNL, BPL, Airtel or Idea. Hope they do something about it as the range is not at its best even at some areas of the town.
The phone supports polyphonic tones and there are some good ring tones and SMS tones already in the phone. The phone book memory of 200 and some extra memory in the SIM card along with a talk time upto 3 hours and a standby time of 200 hours are quite good for a phone of this price, with a weight of 80 gms.
ITS NOT ABOUT THE GAME
There are only two games in the phone, which manages to be quite boring, Black Jack and Video Pocker are those wasted ones, there is not even our good old ’’Snake’’ or ’’Space Impact’’. Even Nokia 1100 supports better gaming!
There is stopwatch, alarm, calculator and sheduler, but it does not support multi languages. Unlike the usual mobile phones, this phone locks the keypads wen you keep pressing the ’’c’’ key and can be unlocked by pressing 1, 2, 3.
Even if the phone is very slim, it certainly got a bulky mobile charger with it. The battery of the phone is quite good and as the phone doesn’t have many extra features, there is no way that the phone may consume too much of the battery charge! The phone even supports groups SMS, may be this phone will be quite common among the CDMA phones especially with the current offer running.
