I bought myself a TATA Indicom scheme which was advertised as 2 years incoming free and TATA to TATA free for two years without recharge. I found the scheme exciting and therefore bought 2 connections for my family and asked all my distributors to book the phone since all of us could speak within the TATA group at zero cost. Taking my advice 14 of my distributors purchased the phone. This was in January 2006.
Now, TATA has abruptly closed the scheme and even the existing customers will no longer get TATA to TATA free ! See how a reputed company named TATA launched a bogus scheme. It was a rude shock for me to see my balance being exhausted even when I was talking on another TATA indicom mobile. Even my distributors blamed me for the unnecessary loss they had incurred by surrendering their GSM phones to buy a TATA indicom as TATA to TATA was free.
When I went to their Customer care center at Flora Fountain- churchgate, I was surprised when their executive Ms.Kintal told me that the company had all the right to terminate the schemes whenever they wished to ! Yes this was the reply. When I told her that I enrolled into the scheme after seeing the advertisement and the brochure which clearly indicated that TATA to TATA was free for 2 years, I was in for another rude shock when the lady replied "humne apko hamara phone lene ke liye force toh nahi kiya tha, aap ne apni marzi se phone liya hai toh abhi hum kya kare". I really dont understand what this answer meant as it had no relevance to the question raised by me.
Anyways, the point I want to put forward is that beware of such bogus schemes and stick to the government telecom company MTNL only. May be they are too slow but they arent cheats either ! shame on TATA
