I traveled with Indigo flight 6E-453 from Raipur to Hyderabad on 24/06/2013.
My experience with cabin crew was fine but unfortunately I had a very unpleasant experience with the ground staff at the baggage check in.
I am a frequent international traveler with airlines like emirates, KLM, jet and did come to India visit my family as my father expired untimely. I was relocating my mother and had 2 small babies with me.
My baggage was 4kg over the limit of 15kg/person. I explained my situation to your ground staff (Niharika).She was extremely rude and arrogant and refused to allow even a single kg extra. This is inspite of lots of gentle explanation of my situation. Her demeanor and body language along with throw of voice was quite insulting and degrading.She did not suggest any alternative of managing my extra luggage as she knew we had very light hand luggage.
This was as if she was determined to make things more harder for us rather than helping us. I did eventually leave my luggage at the airport and also resulted in me severely delayed and rushing to the flight with a 6 month old baby and bereaved mother. What was more surprising was that the flight was not even half full which clearly means she could have easily allowed few extra kgs especially with the fact that she knew we were the last people to board. The whole hassle that she created doesn’t worth the flight journey and I regretted it terribly to have chosen indigo in the first instance.I do travel around the world in various airlines very often ( at least 8-12 times/year) but I have never met a more rude and unhelpful ground staff as Niharika ever.
The entire experience was so traumatic that neither will I ever dare to try this airlines again nor will I recommend to anyone else. More so ever it reflected very badly on raipur airport management authorities which is trying to attain international standards.
