On 1st Sep 2015 I was to travel Delhi-Lucknow by Flight 6E 634 departing Delhi at 07.10 hrs. I had reached the airport two hrs. before the flight and checked in immediately. On reaching the departure gates well before the departure time, I was sitting in the departure lounge waiting for announcement about boarding. On reaching the gate well about 20 minutes before the scheduled departure I was told that the boarding is over and that I can be accommodated in the next flight leaving after one hour.
There was no announcement that passenger so and so should report at the departure gate nor was there any mention of "Boarding Ends" time on the boarding pass or on screen. The airline keeps on sending irrelevant and unimportant text messages like- you can check in online, can avail food on payment etc. etc. to all the passengers but does not think it necessary to inform thechecked in passengers that should report for boarding immediately. This is a definitely a serious shortcoming in service. Having been told that I can board the next flight, I was asked to De-securitise, go back to the booking counter and ask for re-booking. The booking girl surprised me by saying that you have to pay Rs.9000 odd extra.
Now this is ridiculous. First you are denied boarding resulting from shortcoming in your service and save your overbooking and than trap the passenger into paying more money. This amounts to harassment, serious lapse in delivery of services and condemn-able with strongest words.Had it happened in some other country with fast judicial systems, Indigo Airlines would have been made to pays heavy damages- SARAT C BHATIA
