I have had a bitter experience at least 2 times with Indigo one recently and one a year back.
Last Feb. 28(14), I was travelling with my mother who is 74 years young from Mum-Hyd. On reaching the airport, the counter clerk one Mr. Rajeev (see the person is not forgettable) finding my mother using wheelchair services, asked me what she is suffering from. I told him that she is in wheel chair as she can not walk due to her recent surgery.
He then asked to see her medical records to determine if she can be issued boarding pass which upon production, he sent to Doctor stationed at the Airport. My ordeal started with this and continued from 9.30am to 10.30am.
If you are not aware how one can be threatened while appearing polite or how one can be intimidated under the shadow of rules, how one can be asked to shut up politely and to convey that the other has supreme power over the one, well this is the airlines and counter to be.
The treatment meted out is nothing short of one which can be expected towards an offender. I was rudely told to stand aside, with clear implication that I would be thrown out and would not be travelling if I dont comply.
And all through having the journey I have to carry in mind I did not utter a single word to provoke except for asking that he may kindly expedite as I dont want to miss the flight (I arrived at 9.30am and ordeal ended at 10.30am, flight departs at 11am). First you are travelling with an ailing mother in wheel chair and worried about queues everywhere.
Having bought their ticket with your money, you are reminded that consumers collectively may the king but individually they are nothing more than a dog. My first earlier ordeal with the carrier was during Feb.13 when I was travelling from Hyd. to Del and I was refused boarding pass 55 mins before departure saying the boarding closed. I later understood that they overbooked the flight. I had to cancel both to & fro tickets, reschedule meeting for next day and stay in Delhi that night.
My suggestion to my friends reading this, sure Indigo appears as the lowest fare option, sure the flights have better on time arrival record, but are weCattle to deserve this?
I am not looking for a reply or sorry from airlines, but just want to alert my fellow passengers. For corporates, my advise is to learn from this airlines modern management and consumer treatment.
