Pi owners unite - LETS SUE INFIBEAM,

Seeing the other reviews you must have gotten the gist. Avoid. I m sure the company will find it hard to snare any other poor suckers like the rest of us - the elite group of Pi owners.

Haven’t seen yet a pi owner who doesn’t emphatically says that pi is the worst piece of electronics he/she has ever owned.

And they have released a pi 2. heh. Jesus. They really must think Indian consumers are stupid. People have heard kindle is available in India now at much lower prices. Never owned a kindle so can’t vouch for its quality but seen satisfaction from its owners. Conversely never met a pi owner who didn’t start abusing infibeam whenever pi was even mentioned.

Lets see pi is a cheap tacky ebook reader that will die after you read 200-300 pages on it. That is if you are lucky. I m sure people who gave a good review are regretting it now or are infibeam PR people.  The pi just refuses to start up after some days.

I want to be objective but can’t. I bought a pi in November 2010. It arrived new and I loaded a 7 mb pdf file on it. It crashed after 34 pages. I should mention it was a scientific paper that is available  free on the net. When contacting the service the Delhi people referred me to Ahmadabad guy who accused me of downloading pirated books off the internet and said that way I had voided my warranty and he won’t repair it. I politely told him I wasn’t a village bumpkin and could make it very embarrassing if I went to consumer court. Next day my uncle who’s a lawyer phoned their company headquarters. I don’t know exactly what happened but next day the rude guy from Ahmadabad called me and apologized and said it was a big misunderstanding(His word: Sir baki log pirated books download kartey hai aur hamko bhej dete hai aur free mein hamari lag jaatey hai, aapka product 1 in million chance hai faulty raha hoga). He arranged for pick up from my house in Sukhdev Vihar. A week later pi was back. 3 days later it crashed and didn’t load up after booting. I sent it back. this time nobody came to pick it up so I had to go to theit office near Dariyaganj.(get off at Chandni Chowk metro station). 3 weeks later it crashed again. I sent it back again. I was busy with some other stuff(relationship stuff) so lack of ebook reader didn’t bother me. It came back after 10-12 days and this  time it didn’t start after opening from a company service. They probably kept it and sent it right back without doing anything!

I was fuc*ing furious. I begged my Khurana uncle(the lawyer) to help me sue them. He promptly folded his hands and said I’ll give you the money to buy a better reader from a reputed company but I have already a pretty hectic caseload and don’t want to meddle in these trivial matters.

I decided like all Indians, chalo hota hai, phir bhi aur ab mein kya kar sakta hu?

Now I see an announcement that they are launching a pi2. Man, the old rage boiled again in me. Nuh huh. Not again dudes. Never again.

So its not a review as much as a request. All pi owners lets unite and sue the infibeam company. I dunno if people who have written these reviews will come to know of this quest or not.( I m sure most of them  just want to forget they ever bought a device called pi, I know I sure was). But guys if you are there and if anybody reads this review and knows of people who have a pi, lets unite and sue these people.

I suggest we goto a consumer court and not a civil court. If we are lucky we might win a settlement or something. I pledge to support this case with the exact amount I threw in garbage when I bought my pi.

If  we are in good number, the amount each of each will have spend will be negligible as my 10, 000 Rs. will cover most of the cost.(that is why I want to take the consumer court route). But it might help if many such cases are files simultaneously across India. If you are willing to take some pain, the cost is practically nil. But still it helps to have a lawyer(even a cheap one! [:p]) drafting your legal applications and filings.

We are right, infibeam gave us a faulty product and scores of people will attest to the fact. If we rise up in sufficient numbers there is a chance that infibeam gives us a settlement to us all.(mybe even enough to buy an ipod touch, wanting those for some time now[:p]). And even if we lose at least this company will be highlighted for its shoddiness.

So let me know what you think in the comments, Am I tilting at the windmills or do we have something here.
