Update posted 15 March 2012: Infibeam acted swiftly after I posted this experience. The next day they sent me a RMA, had the book collected, and shipped me a new copy in excellent condition in 2 days flat. That is good going. Issue resolved to my complete satisfaction. Thank you Infibeam and thank you Mouthshut!
When you go to a physical bookstore, you have the opportunity to inspect the book for damages, shop-soil, etc. When you buy online you expect the bookstore to do those checks for you.Unfortunately Infibeam does not think it does. I placed this order 8657323 for the book "Data Conversion Handbook", paying the list price of Rs. 895/- from Infibeam though it is available at other online stores for 20% less. At the time I placed the order I stated they must examine the book and not send it unless it is a clean copy in excellent condition, expecting I could trust Infibeam to follow my instruction. When I got the book I saw that the cover was badly creased. I reported this and they asked for photos which I sent(see attached photos). That was on March 1st. Three further emails have followed but it is just a case of "Well get back to you" for two of them and silence after the third.
Dear Infibeam - do I deserve a better deal?
