I discovered Infibeam quite by accident as they involve themselves in very little publicity. I was doing an article on Indian Web Start-Ups when Infibeam.com came up on one of my searches.
I was quite impressed with the site layout and design. Everything was very clearcut. Most Shopping Portals in India try to scram every single thing into their product range, in the process losing out on the layout and cleanliness of the website. But not Infibeam!
When I first visited their website, they only sold Cars, Bikes, Mobile Phones and Watches. They seemed to have a very good focus on what they would offer their customers and that they should do that well.
I tend not to trust online shopping portals very much as I’ve had quite a few bad experiences on some sites. So I treaded with caution. When I wanted to check out the price of a mobile or a watch Infibeam would be one of the places I would visit along with Storeguru and CompareIndia.
I watched with amazement at the range of products that started appearing on Infibeam’s Shopping Portal, not all at the same time but one by one.All very impressive, but would they really stand up to their name and deliver(no pun intended)?
I wanted to buy a particular perfume Acqua Di Gio by Giorgio Armani and I, after having seen the price on Infibeam, called up all my local shopping malls like Lifestyle, Globus, Shoppers Stop in Chennai. None of them seemed to stock Giorgio Armani.
So I decided to Infibeam a try - albeit very cautiously. I still remember the trepidation and dilemma I went through when I pressed the pay button on the portal fearing the worst. This was at 10.30 PM in the night. The next day at 10.00 AM I received a call from Infibeam and the guy asked me for my PAN Number as the value of the product ordered was quite high and they wanted to check if I had indeed ordered the item or not.
I was only able to give it to him a day later, but I asked him when I would get my item. The CS Guy said I would receive the goods in 3-5 Days time and he assured me that they had already shipped it. I received the parcel that very evening. I was thrilled.
The calculation is crazy. Here’s how it worked - Order 10.30 PM - Call 11.30 AM ( Next Day) - Verified 10.30AM(Day After) - Delivered 05.00 PM( Day AFter). Infibeam are located in Ahmedabad and I live in Chennai. And I still managed to get my stuff delivered in less than 24 working hours. Wow.
I would not hesitate to buy from Infibeam in the future. Infibeam - Keep up the good work - You guys ROCK!!
