Infosys was my dream company when I was in my third year and I did get thro it during campus placements, but unfortunately even before I joined Infy I was losing interest coz of its incompetent pay.
I did join Infy hoping work and training would compensate for the poorpay, but that was not the case. Training was awesome with excellent facilities and I didn’t get out of the euphoria of my college days.
But after training I did realize that work culture was not that good, work was pathetic, managers were not upto the mark and there were internal politics. For onsite opportunities you need to wait for three to four years and when you look back at your resume there would be not much you can boast of by that time. Ifonsite is your only dream then may be you can stay but in fact I would prefer opting for either H1B(US) or Tier 1 Visas(UK)
Fo eg : Managers cannot understand the code at all as it would have been years back they would have coded and from then onwards MS Word and Excel are their areas of expertise.
If you go by statistics none from the creamy layer prefers Infosys now and I dont think Infosys is preferred at IIT except for the consultancy wing of it. Every Infoscion knows this(but none would accept this specifically if he stays there still, even I wouldnt) and I had been whinging about this with my friends for almost an year during my short stint at Infy.
This review will hold good for a techie and I would suggest product companies are much much better compared to service companies.
Most of the service companies are similar one way or the other.
